GEORGANNA BEACHBOARD
Equality Coordinator, Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
Before 1979, the women of Missouri had no advocate to ensure they had equal access to career training programs in order to gain skills
needed to support themselves and their families. That changed when Georganna Beachboard was named Missouri’s first Sex Equity
Coordinator by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Georganna developed a statewide network of eight regional resource centers that provide outreach and counseling services, creating access
to career education training programs for women who previously had none.
Georganna has always been passionate about helping Missouri women become successful. She was also active at the national level, taking
many leadership positions. Georganna’s awards and recognition include: President, National Vocational Education Equity Council; Martin
Luther King State Pioneer and Diversity Award; and Missouri Leadership Academy Award for establishing a network for women in school
administration.
Georganna Beachboard is a role model. She sets an example for personal success, as well as an example for helping others achieve
success.
