Agnes Moore

AGNES MOORE WAS BORN IN Ste. Genevieve, Mo., and educated in Ste. Genevieve, Festus and Terra Haute, Ind. She married James Moore in 1924.
Moore was active in civic affairs and the past president of the Federated Women’s Club of Ste. Genevieve, Parent Teachers Association, an honorary member and director of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, and served for six years as chairwoman of the Ste. Genevieve County Aid for Crippled Children.
Moore came from a family of Democrats and was the first woman elected to public office from Ste. Genevieve County. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 1956.
