Women’s Council Exhibit Honors Women Who Have Shaped Missouri’s History

LINN — Linn State Technical College will sponsor an exhibit that honors the historic achievements of Missouri women who have helped shape the history of the Show-Me State.

The exhibit, “Outstanding Missouri Women,” presented by the Missouri Women’s Council, features more than 60 Missouri women who have made a difference through their leadership, dedication, and courage. The exhibit will run through the month of January in the college’s Information Technology Building.

“Women have played an inspirational, influential and instrumental role in shaping Missouri’s history,” said Mary Cottom, executive director of the Missouri Women’s Council. “We are proud to honor the pioneering women whose contributions have enhanced the quality of life in Missouri and opened new doors of opportunity for today’s women.”

The Missouri Women's Council was established in 1985 by the state's 83rd General Assembly with a mandate to identify and address the issues affecting the economic and employment status of Missouri women. The council serves as a resource and referral center connecting women to information on all aspects of women, work, and family life. 

The Women's Council promotes women's economic and employment opportunities through education and training programs, conferences, referral consultations, and by providing several free resources for Missouri.
