2008 Award of Distinction

DR. JACQUELINE SNYDER
Chancellor, Metropolitan Community College

As the first woman Chancellor of the Metropolitan Community College in its 92 year history, Dr. Jacqueline Snyder is a powerful and unique role model for women not only in Kansas City but also throughout Missouri.

From the beginning, Dr. Snyder focused on working with and for women. She taught at several different levels including junior high, high school and college classes. While at Johnson County Community College she developed the program “Women in Business Ownership,” which supported women developing entrepreneurial skills. She was recognized for this program by serving as Community College Fellow in the League for Innovation in Community Colleges.

Dr. Snyder continued her career as the Chancellor of the Metropolitan Community College, focusing on training, employment, education and career advancement for women who are MCC students.

Dr. Snyder also dedicates a generous portion of her time to community service serving on several boards of directors including the American Association of Community College Women’s Network, Women’s Employment Network and Adult Basic Education in Kansas City. She has also served as a mentor to women in the National Institute of Leadership Development in Community Colleges program.

Dr. Snyder is known for her integrity, her ability to provide positive leadership in a collaborative working environment, and her dedication to excellence in all that she does. She continues to be both a role model for women and one who has opened countless doors of opportunity for the women of Kansas City and Missouri.
